Permanent Senior Veterinary Surgeon - Weymouth, Dorset

  • Are you a qualified and RCVS registered veterinary surgeon?
  • Are you looking to step into a senior role?
  • Would you like a salary of up to £68,000?

We are recruiting on behalf of a first opinion practice in Weymouth for a Permanent Senior Veterinary Surgeon to join their team. This role is full time for 40 hours per week over 4 days, along with 1 in 5 Saturdays. There will be no OOH work or on-call duties.

  • Team: 5 vets, 15 nurses and a supportive non-clinical team

The role

  • The role offers a varied first opinion caseload with a mixture of consultations and surgeries
  • The role will involve a shared weekend rota and some occasional sole charge work.
  • The role will primarily be based in Weymouth but there will be occasional work at a nearby branch in Dorchester
  • You will assist in managing the clinical team and practice alongside the clinical director

  • They have two vets who hold certificates and two more who are currently studying for one

  • The practice has a great team made up of 5 vets, 15 nurses and a supportive non-clinical team
  • They understand the importance of the roles that RVNs play within the practice and actively encourage the development of skills and knowledge whereby the nurses offer nurse clinics where they can advise and educate clients and use their own initiative whilst assisting the vets
  • They pride themselves on a supportive team culture and they value each and everyone's roles within the practice

About you

  • The practice are open to various levels of experience.
  • You will have excellent communications skills and client facing skills
  • You will have a positive attitude and show empathy to both clients and team members
  • You will encourage ongoing development of the team
  • You will be a team player and be able to work in a collaborative manner
  • You will have the confidence to work sole charge as this will be required

Package

  • Salary: Up to £68,000 per annum, commensurate to experience
  • Holidays: 7.6 weeks annual leave, plus bank holidays
  • CPD: Generous allowance of £1,250 with 40 hours to attend
  • Memberships: RCVS, VDS and BVA fees paid
