Permanent Senior Veterinary Surgeon - Swindon, Wiltshire

We are recruiting on behalf of an independent small animal practice in Swindon for a Permanent Senior Veterinary Surgeon. This role is full time for 4 days per week with shifts from 9am to 6:30pm, along with 1 in 4 Saturdays from 9am to 12pm. There is also an additional 1 in 4 rota for hospitalised patient care. There will be no OOH work or on-call duties.

The practice is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced vet who has excellent surgical and medical skills and a genuine passion for what they do. You will have several years of quality experience and the capability to lead the team when the lead vet is unavailable. Further qualifications would also be advantageous. Excellent client care and communication skills are important along with the ability to coach others within the team. In result they provide an open culture and support Vets in their ongoing development and learning with a good emphasis on CPD.

This is an established first opinion independent practice which is fully equipped with all the toys as one would expect including ultrasound, in-house laboratory, endoscopy, laparoscopy, blood pressure monitor, ECG and regenerative medicine, including PRP and stem cell. They have three sites in total. The main site allows cases to be dealt with in house so there is rarely need for any referral work.

The practice have an excellent nurse to vet ratio with a large friendly and supportive team of 36 staff in total. There are a few senior nurses who provide excellent support to both newly graduated Vets and experienced vets. There is also a large nonclinical team who take care of clients.

About you:

  • The role is not determined on years of experience but the quality of the experience and be catered to suit but ultimately the vet needs to be ambitious and looking to take on a lead role in a practice and manage and support a team
  • Further qualifications or the ambition to work towards a certificate is advantageous
  • They will be capable of completing most surgeries at a confident level
  • They will have clinical coaching skills
  • They will have excellent customer facing skills and enjoy establishing and building their own client base
  • They will work well within the team alongside other veterinary specialists and clinicians
  • They will be a passionate and motivated veterinary surgeon with a genuine interest for animal welfare
  • You will enjoy working within a busy practice with a wide variety of cases
