Permanent Veterinary Nurse - Kendal, Cumbria

  • Are you a qualified and RCVS registered veterinary nurse or soon to be?
  • Are you looking for a 4-day week with no OOH work?

We are recruiting on behalf of a small animal practice in Kendal, Cumbria for a Permanent Veterinary Nurse to join their team.

This role is full time for 4 days per week with shifts from 8:30am to 5:30pm, along with 1 in 6 Saturday mornings. There will be one later shift until 7:30pm per week. There will be no OOH work or on-call duties.

The role:

  • The role will involve a variety of duties including inpatient care, lab work, diagnostics and assisting in theatre.
  • This role is ideal for a motivated and ambitious nurse who has a good range of skills and someone who would like to make a difference and share and promote new ideas.
  • The RVN will be expected to be dedicated to providing a high standard of patient care and be able to work well as part of a team whilst establishing excellent working relationships with clients.
  • The role offers flexible work patterns to suit around lifestyle, school runs and school holidays.

About them:

  • First opinion practice based in Kendal, close to the Lake District, with two sites
  • Nurse training practice.
  • They focus on sick pets but also have a bias towards preventative medicine which is mainly run out of their branch surgery.
  • They are fully equipped offering state of the art facilities and veterinary services including ultrasound, endoscope, digital x-ray, dental suit and an in house laboratory. They also carry out orthopaedic work at one of their sites.
  • They provide a supportive working environment where everyone has a voice and are able to share their ideas.
  • They offer a great work-life balance and provide support to one another as a team.
  • The practice provides a high standard of care and customer service to all its patients and clients.

Team culture:

  • They have a supportive close knit team with an encouraging and supporting culture.
  • They support all of the RVNs to pursue areas of special interest and some of the nurses have advanced qualifications.
  • They understand the difficulties that the vet industry can face, and they ensure that each member of staff support each other and strive each day to provide a positive and encouraging work environment.

About you:

  • The practice are looking for a confident and enthusiastic nurse who has a good range of skills.
  • The nurse will have great communication skills and organisational skills and be able to work independently and also as part of a team.
  • They will provide an excellent service to all clients and be able to build rapport easily.

Package

  • Salary: Up to £29,000 per annum, commensurate to experience
  • Holidays: 6.6 weeks annual leave, including bank holidays and birthday off
  • CPD: Generous allowance of £500 with 24 hours to attend
