Permanent Mixed Veterinary Surgeon - Kilkeel, County Down

  • Are you a qualified and RCVS registered veterinary surgeon?
  • Are you an experienced mixed animal vet looking for a new opportunity in Northern Ireland?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Permanent Mixed Veterinary Surgeon to join a mixed animal practice in Newry, Northern Ireland. This role is full time with shifts from 9am to 6pm with 1 in 4 OOH weekend shifts. The role is 90% large animal and 10% small animal.

Across the year, the caseload is largely cattle work with 70% suckler and 30% dairy work. Until May, it's 50% sheep and 50% cattle on average. After May, sheep work is very infrequent.

This is a progressive, forward thinking and established mixed animal practice. They see a wide variety of both small animal and large animal cases.

You will be joining 4 mixed animal vets and they also have 2 nurses for the small animal team. They are fully equipped with an in-house laboratory, digital x-ray, ultrasound, and dental station.

Key details:

  • Type: 90% large, 10% small
  • Hours: Full time, shifts from 9am to 6pm
  • Weekends: 1 in 4 OOH weekend shifts
  • OOH: 1 in 4 weekends
  • Sole charge: None
  • Team: 4 vets, 2 nurses and a supportive non-clinical team
  • Consultations: Varied

Facilities:

Package:

  • Salary: £40,000 to £52,000 per annum, commensurate to experience
