Permanent Veterinary Surgeon - Southampton, Hampshire

We are recruiting on behalf of a small animal practice in Southampton, Hampshire for a Permanent Veterinary Surgeon to join their team. This role is full or part time for up to 4 days per week, along with Saturday mornings on a rota. There will be no OOH work or on-call duties.

• Consultations: 15 minutes
• Team: 5 vets, 8 nurses and a supportive non-clinical team

The role

• The Vet will be responsible for carrying out consultations, diagnostics, surgeries, managing in patients and working alongside the team. Support is available for less experienced Vets.
• There would be some sole charge work during the holidays and also on Saturday mornings.
• The practice will support areas of special interest
• Whilst there is no OOH and Saturdays are on a shared rota, nurse do the weekend and evening inpatients checks however Vets or on standby rota to be available if required.
• Flexible working and rota patterns available to accommodate a good work / life balance. EG Rota to work around the school run / holidays /lifestyle.
• The Vet will be responsible for providing a high standard of veterinary care and customer service.
• The Vet will be responsible to ensuring that there is excellent communication between themselves and the team and with clients.

• The practice is fully equipped offering a wide range of diagnostics and veterinary services including in house laboratory, digital x-ray, ECG, capnography and ultrasound.
• They have a support and experienced team and they regularly share knowledge and are happy to train and mentor new graduates and nurses. They have a vet who holds a certificate in surgery.
• They have a great local reputation and pride themselves on the communication in terms of client care that they provide. They also have a low staff turnover.
• They support personal development with a generous CPD allowance and encourage and support certificates and additional training. The Vet team have various areas of special interest.
• The practice provides a high standard of care and customer service to all its patients and clients.

About you

• The practice can support either a newly graduated surgeon or a more experienced Vet.
• The Vet will be a team player, with good interpersonal skills and be able to establish strong working relationships.
• The vet will have excellent communications skills and a compassionate attitude along with excellent client facing skills.
• The Vet will be able to organise their own time well and remain calm under pressure.

Package

• Salary: Up to £65,000 pro rata, commensurate to experience
• Holidays: 6.6 weeks annual leave, increasing with service and birthday off
