Permanent Veterinary Surgeon - Nottingham

  • Are you a qualified and RCVS registered veterinary surgeon or soon to be?
  • Are you looking to join an established small animal practice in Nottingham?

We have an opportunity for an Permanent Veterinary Surgeon to join a small independent animal practice in Nottingham. This role is full time for 37.5 hours per week over 4 days, along with 1 in 4 weekends. There will be no OOH work or on-call duties.

About the practice:

This is an established practice with all the latest diagnostic technology and facilities. If you have an advanced surgical bias, then the facilities are well suited to this passion. The practice sees a wide variety of cases including more complex surgeries which enables the development of clinical skills and knowledge.

This is a growing and thriving practice and have a caring team of people who are passionate about the pets that they treat and offer high quality affordable veterinary care to all customers without ever compromising on standards. About the role

The roles will involve all aspects of Veterinary work on top of working closely both fellow team members and the clinical director.

The practice boasts a professional and friendly team of 2 vets, 4 RVNs and 1 SVN along with supporting nonclinical staff.

The right candidate would be passionate about clinical coaching, teaching and mentoring colleagues. They will be comfortable with most veterinary medicine and surgical procedures. Areas of special interest and certificates are supported and funded. Ideally the vet will be looking for a position where they can continue to develop their clinical knowledge and levels of experience. Excellent communication skills are essential and ability to educate pet owners on their pet's welfare as well as providing excellent veterinary care is also essential.

There is a generous package which is commensurate with experience.

Key details:

  • Type: Small animal
  • Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week over 4 days
  • Weekends: 1 in 4 weekends
  • OOH: None
  • Sole charge: None, except occasional one hour as shifts swap
  • Computer system: Merlin
  • Branch Work: None
  • Team: 5 vets, 8 RVNs, 2 VCAs and a supportive non-clinical team (team of 29 in total)

  • Various levels of experience will be considered
  • You will be comfortable in all routine surgeries and consultations with support for more recent graduates available

  • You will work well under pressure with a calm and confident manner
  • You will have excellent people management skills
  • A kind and empathetic attitude is essential
  • You will be ambitious looking to study towards a certificate or be a certificate holding surgeon looking to progress further

  • The role is not determined on years of experience and be catered to suit but ultimately the vet needs to be ambitious looking to develop your clinical skills and knowledge further
  • Areas of special interest would be an advantage
  • You will want to be at the forefront of the practice help growing and developing the services and facilities provided
  • You will have excellent customer facing skills
  • You will work well within the team alongside other veterinary specialists and clinicians
  • You will be a passionate and motivated veterinary surgeon with a genuine interest for animal welfare

Facilities:

Package:

  • Salary: £43,000 to £65,000 per annum, commensurate to experience
