Permanent Veterinary Surgeon - Cardiff, South Glamorgan

  • Are you a qualified and RCVS registered veterinary surgeon or soon to be?
  • Are you looking to join an established small animal practice in Cardiff?

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established veterinary practice in Cardiff for a Permanent Veterinary Surgeon. This role is full time for 4 days per week with shifts from 8:30am to 7pm, along with 1 in 5 Saturdays from 8:30am to 4pm and Sundays from 10am to 1pm. There will be no OOH work or on-call duties.

The role will be mainly based at the hospital practice in Cardiff; however some work will be required at their local branches. The role will involve a mixture of consultations, surgeries, inpatients and branch work.

The practice is located in Cardiff where the city has a lot to offer including lovely coastlines and countryside.

The Vet will be joining a large team of 16 Vets and will be working within the 3 branches. They have certificate holdings surgeons and can provide support for a Vet who is looking for development and growth. The team provide a welcoming and supportive environment along with medical and clinical freedom. They offer 20-minute appointment and they also have a varied caseload.

For newly graduated Vets they can offer an onsite mentor to help guide them through their first role. New graduate programme available.

The practice is a well-equipped, RCVS accredited practice with a great variety of daily theatre work. They have facilities including ultrasound, digital x ray including dental x rays, orthopaedic theatre, and a dental suite.

What we they looking for:

The practice are looking for an enthusiastic veterinary surgeon with an interest in all aspects of general practice. Areas of special interests are encouraged. They must have excellent communication skills, be a team player and have a ambition and commitment to progress and develop their career further.

Key details:

  • Type: Small animal
  • Hours: Full time, 4 days per week, shifts from 8:30am to 7pm
  • Weekends: 1 in 5 weekends
  • Out of hours: No out of hours required, very occasional inpatient checks on a shared rota
  • Sole Charge: Only when comfortable and established. Will not be left sole charge if not ready
  • Team: 17 Vets working in total across the 3 sites

About them:

A well established and long-standing veterinary practice who operate out of a well-equipped hospital and 2 branch surgeries. With 16 vets working in the team they have a well-balanced mixture of all experience levels and pride themselves on the training and guidance they can offer to recent graduates. They are kitted out with all the latest tools and equipment including an in-house lab, ECG machine, Ultrasound, Digital X-ray, Endoscopy, Dentistry and much more

About you:

  • You will be an RCVS registered veterinary surgeon
  • Previous experience would be advantageous
  • You can be a new graduate and a mentor will be provided
  • You will have ambition and motivated to develop your career further
  • You will always aim to deliver a high standard of clinical care
  • You will have excellent customer facing skills and be able to motivate other team members
  • You will work well within the team alongside other veterinary specialists and clinicians
  • You will be a passionate and motivated veterinary surgeon with a genuine interest for animal welfare

Package:

  • Salary: £35,000 to £55,000 per annum, commensurate to experience
