Permanent Veterinary Surgeon - Abergavenny, Wales

  • Are you a qualified and RCVS registered veterinary surgeon or soon to be?
  • Are you looking for a new position in Wales which offers a varied caseload?
  • Are you looking to expand your clinical skills and knowledge?

We are recruiting for a Permanent Veterinary Surgeon to join a small animal practice in Abergavenny, Wales. This role is full time for 4 days per week, along with 1 in 5 Saturdays and 1 in 20 Saturday mornings. There is a 1 in 6 inpatient only on-call rota to support the night nurses but no OOH shifts.

The practice has 4 sites in total with this role and the role will be a mixture of consultations and surgeries across all the sites. The Vet would be joining a large team of 13 Vets which include 3 GDP holders. Each of the sites provide a wide varying case load. The team boast certificate holding Veterinary Surgeons in both medicine and surgery, so the Vet has excellent case support and the opportunities to expand their medical skill set and knowledge.

The practice is in the stunning market town of Abergavenny and is close to both Cardiff and Bristol.

Key details:

  • Type: Small animal
  • Hours: Full time, 4 days per week
  • Weekends: 1 in 5 Saturdays, 1 in 20 Saturday mornings
  • OOH: 1 in 6 inpatient only on-call rota
  • Team: Large veterinary team across 4 sites
  • Consultations: 15 minutes

  • You will always deliver and be committed to providing a high standard of clinical care

  • You will be ambitious looking to study towards a certificate or be a certificate holding surgeon looking to progress further
  • You will be a team player
  • The role is determined on years of experience and be catered to suit but ultimately the Vet needs to be ambitious looking to develop your clinical skills and knowledge further
  • You will enjoy working in a busy environment
  • You will want to be at the forefront of the practice help growing and developing the services and facilities provided.
  • You will have excellent customer facing skills
  • You will work well within the team alongside other veterinary specialists and clinicians
  • You will be a passionate and motivated veterinary surgeon with a genuine interest for animal welfare

Package:

  • Salary: £35,000 to £60,000 per annum, commensurate to experience
