Permanent Veterinary Nurse - Haddington, East Lothian

  • Are you a qualified and RCVS registered veterinary nurse or soon to be?
  • Are you looking for a great salary of up to £32,000?

We are recruiting on behalf of a small animal practice in Haddington, East Lothian for a Permanent Veterinary Nurse to join their team. This role is full time for 40 hour working week over a 4 or 5 days, along with 1 in 7 weekends for emergencies and OOH only.

Key details

  • Type: Small animal
  • Hours: 40 hours per week over 4 or 5 days per week
  • Weekends: 1 in 7 weekends, ECC and OOH only
  • OOH: 1 in 7 weekends, time off in lieu

About the role:

  • Shifts can vary and the practice are flexible and these can start between 8am to 11am
  • The role will be based within their main hospital site
  • The OOH night team take over in the evenings however the nurse will be expected to provide cover over sickness and holidays and there is time back in lieu provided
  • The role will involve all aspects of general nursing with a varied day anaesthetic work, in patient care, lab work, nurse consults, dispensing drugs and reception work where required
  • The practice encourage all nurses to pursue areas of special interest and expand their clinical skills and knowledge
  • The practice offers a flexible working pattern to support a work / life balance EG: Shifts to suit school pick ups

About them:

  • Established small animal practice
  • 4 Site practice
  • They offer their own OOH service with their own team which enables the day team to be exposed to more critical cases
  • They have a team of 16 Vets, 12 Nurses and 2 SVNs
  • One Vet holds a certificate in Ophthalmology
  • They are equipped with facilities including two theatres, Digital X-ray, Ultrasound and endoscopy
  • The have good transport links to Edinburgh
  • The practice provides a high standard of care and customer service to all its patients and clients using the latest technology
  • They provide a supportive environment which offers scope for the Nurse to develop an area of interest

About you:

  • The Nurse will have a good level of small animal experience
  • The Nurse will have great communication skills, organisational skills and have an approachable manner
  • They will provide an excellent service to all clients and be able to build rapport easily

Package

  • Salary: Up to £32,000 per annum, commensurate to experience
  • Holidays: 6.6 weeks annual leave, including bank holidays and birthday off
