Permanent Veterinary Nurse - Epsom, Surrey

  • Are you a qualified and RCVS registered veterinary nurse?
  • Are you looking to join an established small animal practice in Surrey?

We are recruiting on behalf of a small animal practice in Epsom, Surrey who require a Permanent Veterinary Nurse to join their team. This role is full time for 40 hours per week, along with 1 in 3 half or 1 in 6 full weekends. There will be no OOH work or on-call duties.

The practice are always keen to ensure that nurses are able to utilise their skills to their full potential and appreciate the importance of their role within the practice.

The practice is looking for an RVN who has a compassionate and empathetic attitude along with excellent communication skills. It is important that the RVN is team player.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the veterinary surgeons
  • Completing all general nursing duties
  • Nurse consultations
  • Clinical coaching duties
  • Carry out and complete specific tasks as allocated by the head nurse
  • Ensure that you are organised and prepared for cases that are coming in
  • Administer treatments, such as EG injections, fluids, and dressings
  • Dispense medication as per the veterinary surgeons' instructions
  • Keep accurate records
  • Caring for in patients including pre-op, medications and recovery and monitoring
  • Report progress of in patients to clients
  • Ensure you keep accurate records with regards to medical records, anaesthetic sheets, hospitalisation forms etc.

  • Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week
  • Weekends: 1 in 3 half or 1 in 6 full weekends

About you:

  • They will enjoy and embrace all aspects of the role
  • They will have sound knowledge of all aspects of RVN duties and responsibilities - for more experienced RVNs
  • They will have excellent communication skills.
  • They will have excellent client care skills and be able to build client relationships easily.
  • They will remain calm under pressure and be able to multitask where appropriate
  • They will have an enthusiastic and motivated attitude with excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • They will be ambitious and motivated to develop and utilise all their clinical skills.

Facilities:

As a state-of-the-art purpose-built practice is offers a wide range of veterinary services and facilities, including:

  • Ultrasound
  • Endoscopy
  • In-house haematology
  • Digital X-ray
  • Dental X-ray
  • Ultrasound
  • Biochemistry

Package:

  • Salary: Up to £30,000 per annum, commensurate to experience
  • Holidays: 5 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays
  • CPD: Generous allowance of £750 with 2 days to attend
  • Memberships: RCVS, VDS and BVNA fees paid
  • Healthcare scheme

Must haves:

  • RCVS registered and qualified or soon to be
  • Possess the right to work in the United Kingdom
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
