Permanent Head Veterinary Nurse - Waltham Forest, London

  • Are you a qualified and RCVS registered veterinary nurse?
  • Are you looking to move into a head hurse role?

We are recruiting on behalf of a small animal practice in Waltham Forest, London for a Permanent Head Veterinary Nurse to join their team. This role is full time for 36 to 40 hours per week with shifts between 8am and 7:30pm, along with 1 in 6 weekends. There will be no OOH or on-call duties.

About the role:

  • The HVN will be responsible for working alongside the practice manager and clinical directors to ensure the smooth day to day running of the practice.
  • The HVN will be responsible for managing the nurse team and organising the rotas. They will also be responsible for the development and CPD of the team.
  • The role offers clinical coaching opportunities so it would be an advantage for the RVN to have clinical coaching experience but not essential.
  • The role will also involve clinical duties, with a half day set aside for administrative tasks. The practice encourage schedule three procedures and provide support for this.
  • The Nurse will also assist with clinical audits and practice standards improvements.
  • The practice offers a flexible working pattern to support a work / life balance EG: Shifts to suit school pick ups however cover is required on Monday, Thursdays and Fridays as a minimum

  • The practice is fully equipped with facilities including separate cat and dog wards, in house laboratory, X-Ray, Ultrasound and Dental X-Ray.

  • They have one certificate holding surgeon and Vets with areas of special interest

About you:

  • The Nurse will be looking to take the next step into a leadership position.
  • It would be an advantage to have clinical coaching experience or a desire to become a clinical coach but not essential
  • Ideally the RVN will have experience with surgery and nurse consultations
  • They are for an enthusiastic and motivated RVN who work well as part of a team
  • The Nurse will have great communication skills, organisational skills and have an approachable manner
  • They will provide an excellent service to all clients and be able to build rapport easily

Package

  • Salary: Up to £35,000 pro rata, commensurate to experience
