Job description

We are recruiting for a Permanent Head Veterinary Nurse to join a small animal practice in Waltham Cross. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week with a 1:6 weekend rota working at the nearest animal hospital. The role also includes 2-3 weeks on call and 2-3 Bank holidays per year early/middle/late shifts throughout the week.

The practice is fully equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. They provide a high standard of clinical care and pride themselves on having staff members who stand apart from the rest and have a real passion and vision for how they work. They provide ongoing training and support to all team members through dedicated training centres.

All staff also benefit from the access to the best diagnostic equipment such as MRI machines and CT scanners and state of the art operating theatres in the nearest state-of-the-art Animal Hospital.

The role involves all aspects of general nursing and includes the smooth and efficient day to day of the practice. The role also offers the opportunity for the HVN to ruin nurse clinics and use their own initiative to bring new ideas to the tale and implement them. The HVN will be responsibly for a wide variety of duties including and will receive ongoing regional support for additional duties such as recruitment. They will enjoy supporting and mentoring others and will be responsible for being a clinical coach to SVNs.

This role would be ideal for an RVN who is looking to take their next career step into a management role.

Responsibilities and duties include:

  • Assisting the Branch Partner
  • Ensure the smooth day to day running of the practice
  • Managing SVNs and PCAs
  • Organising surgeries that need to attend the hospital
  • General nursing duties and responsibilities
  • Chasing and managing debt management
  • Ensuring protocols and policies including health and safety are in place

  • You will have a good amount of small animal nursing experience in all aspects of nursing
  • You will be looking to take the next step into a management role

  • You will be ambitious to continue with further education and training
  • You will have clinical coaching experience or be looking to become a clinical coach

Package:

  • Salary: 27,543 - 32,000 per annum, Commensurate to experience
