Permanent Head Veterinary Nurse - Broxbourne, Hertfordshire

We are recruiting for a Permanent Head Veterinary Nurse to join a practice in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire. This role is full time for 4 days per week with weekends on a rota. There will be no OOH work or on-call duties.

The position will involve all aspects of nursing including assisting in surgery and running nurse clinics as well as clinical coaching duties. They will be responsible for supporting and mentoring the nursing team and will lead by example. They will have the drive and motivation to train and develop the nursing team whilst ensuring that the patient and client experience remains at a high standard.

The RVN would be joining a team of 5 vets, 2 RVNs, 5 SVNs and 5 CCAs. This is an established 24hr animal hospital which have a night team in place so there is no OOH. The practice understand the importance of career development and they ensure that motoring and support are provided.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete all aspects of nursing duties and assisting the vets
  • Administering medications
  • In patient care
  • Assisting in surgery
  • Working alongside the nursing and ancillary staff
  • Running Nurse clinics
  • Clinical coaching duties for SVNs
  • Provide council to all nursing and ancillary team where required on performance
  • Assist the management team with the administration that is needed to complete the smooth day to day running of the practice.
  • Liaise with clients and ensure accurate information is passed on regarding their pets
  • Ensure opportunities are available for team members to gain experience and provide support and encourage where necessary
  • Induction training of new staff members
  • Ensure staff are compliant with Health and Safety Policies.
  • Maintain on professional skills and clinical development

About you

  • Previous management experience would be advantageous but not essential
  • You will have a good amount of nursing experience in all aspects of nursing
  • You will have good organisational skills
  • You must have a friendly and compassionate attitude and be always approachable
  • You will be ambitious to continue with further education and training
  • You will be forward thinking and always looking at ways to develop the clinical nursing team further
  • You will enjoy running nurse clinics
  • You will have experience in clinical coaching and or happy to become a clinical coach
  • You will enjoy leading a team and providing ongoing support to fellow team members
  • You must be motivated and passionate about your work and share this and promote this ethos with other members of staff
  • You will enjoy mentoring others and leading by example
  • You will enjoy working as part of a team
  • You will have a genuine passion for animal welfare
  • You will consistently deliver a high standard of clinical care
  • You will be caring, adaptable, hardworking, and reliable
  • You will have excellent communication and customer interfacing skills

Package:

  • Salary: Up to £32,500 per annum, commensurate to experience
