Locum ECC Veterinary Surgeon - Brighton, East Sussex

We are recruiting on behalf of a 24hr animal hospital in Brighton for a Locum Night ECC Veterinary Surgeon to provide maternity leave cover for 6 to 12 months on a fixed term basis. This role is part time for 4 nights on and 8 nights off.

This is a large animal hospital which provides support for 6 branches within the surrounding local area. It also offers an OOH service for other local practices.

The role involves the assessment and treatment of the hospitalised patients and dealing with any ECC cases that come through during the night. Ideally the Vet will have a certificate in emergency or critical care or internal medicine or working towards one. However, should the Vet not have a certificate nor working towards one then they would be expected to enrol for one after the initial probation period has passed. The practice will provide ongoing support.

The practice is looking to grow their medical team within the hospital and currently have an exotic, orthopaedic, first opinion and night team in place.

The Vet will be joining a highly experienced team of certificate holders and other team members which have a wide variety of special interests.

About you:

  • Ideally you will have an ECC certificate or an internal medicine certificate or working towards one however not essential
  • You will have a genuine passion for medicine and ECC work
  • You will always deliver and be committed to providing a high standard of clinical care
  • You will have an enthusiastic, kind, and empathetic and caring attitude
  • You will have strong communication skills and organisational skills
  • You will have excellent client facing skills
  • You will work well under pressure with a calm and confident manner
  • You will be a team player
  • You will be a passionate and motivated veterinary surgeon with a genuine interest for animal welfare
  • You will have ambition to develop your clinical skills and work towards areas of special interest
  • The role is determined on years of experience and be catered to suit but ultimately the Vet needs to be ambitious looking to develop clinical skills and knowledge and take on a leadership position
  • You will want to be at the forefront of the practice help growing and developing the services and facilities provided
  • You will work well within the team alongside other veterinary specialists and clinicians
