Permanent Veterinary Surgeon - Stockport, Greater Manchester

We are recruiting on behalf of a small animal hospital in Stockport for a Permanent Veterinary Surgeon to join their team. This role is full time for 4 days per week, along with weekends on a rota. There will be no OOH work or on-call duties.

The Vet will be responsible for leading the team and developing and growing the A&E services. They are looking for a dedicated Vet and ideally someone who has previous ECC experience or certificate.

They are looking for an enthusiastic candidate who has some previous management experience and looking to lead and manage an A&E department within an hospital.

The role offers a 4 day week with a combination of some nights as well.The practice boasts an excellent reputation across Stockport and Greater Manchester. There is a strong supportive team with various levels of experience.

About the role:

The practice requires a veterinary surgeon who has solid all round general medical and surgical skills and who is also comfortable working sole charge on occasion. Excellent customer service skills are vital and the ability to establish good working relationships with clients, patients and fellow team members. The practice believes strongly in case continuity so the vet will be able to work up cases fully and see them from start to finish with plenty of time available to document the services provided.

The vet must be enthusiastic and passionate about their work. As a busy practice there is excellent opportunities to continue to learn and grow and areas of special interest are actively encouraged and supported.

The role will involve a mixture of clinical and no clinical work, providing on going support to the team. The Vet will be expected to be available to make urgent decisions and offer advice. They will be responsible for dealing with any complaints. The role offers a 40 hour week and will be a mixture of day and night shifts.

Key details:

  • Type: Small animal
  • Hours: Full time, 4 days per week
  • Weekends: On a rota
  • Sole charge: On occasion
  • OOH: Some evenings until 11pm
  • Branch work: On occasion
  • Consultations: 10 minutes

About you:

  • You must have a strong work ethic and provide an excellent high standard of clinical service
  • You will have leadership skills and have experience of managing a team
  • You will have excellent judgement and experience in business operations
  • You will be able to mentor and coach others
  • You will be confident in making decisions
  • You will be confident in all areas of routine surgeries and medical cases
  • You will be happy to work sole charge
  • You will want to contribute to the practice enabling them to stay at the forefront of clinical thinking whilst also maintaining the ethos of providing a high standard of clinical care to all pets
  • You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to develop a great rapport with both clients and staff
  • You will be a strong team player with an enthusiastic and passionate attitude

Package:

  • Salary: £40,000 to £60,000 per annum, commensurate to experience
