We are recruiting on behalf of a small animal practice in Newport, Wales for a Permanent Veterinary Surgeon to join their team. This role is full time for 40 hours per week with shifts from 8am to 6:45pm, along with 1 in 5 Saturdays from 8am to 12:30pm. There will be no OOH work or on-call duties.

  • Consultations: 15 minutes
  • Team: 7 vets, strong nursing and supportive non-clinical team

The role

  • The role will be working between both of the practices sites.
  • The role be versatile as the Vet will be able to chose whether to operate, consult or treat inpatients depending on the preference.
  • The practice offer laparoscopic services and can provide full training in this area.
  • The role is a mixture of surgeries and consultations and they are looking for a vet who is competent in all routine procedures.
  • Areas of special interest are encouraged and supported.
  • The Vet would be working alongside a 7 Vet team. They have RCVS advanced practitioners and surgical certificate holders so there are ongoing learning opportunities for further development as they have a strong ethos on sharing knowledge.
  • Flexible working and rota patterns available to accommodate a good work / life balance. EG Rota to work around the school run / holidays /lifestyle.
  • The Vet will be responsible for providing a high standard of veterinary care and customer service.
  • The Vet will be responsible to ensuring that there is excellent communication between themselves and the team and with clients.

  • First opinion small animal practice with two sites
  • They are fully equipped with facilities including a dental x-ray, ultrasound, in-house laboratory, digital x-ray, endoscopy, laparoscopy, and advanced orthopaedic and spinal equipment
  • They boast RCVS accredited practitioners along with certificate holding surgeons.
  • They support personal development with a generous CPD allowance and encourage and support certificates and additional training.
  • The practice provides a high standard of care and customer service to all its patients and clients.

About you:

  • The practice are able to support various levels of experience but the Vet would be committed at practising good medicine.
  • The Vet will be a team player.
  • The vet will have excellent communications skills and a compassionate attitude along with excellent client facing skills.
  • The Vet will be able to organise their own time well and remain calm under pressure.

Package

  • Salary: Up to £63,000 per annum, commensurate to experience
  • Holidays: 6.6 weeks annual leave, increasing with service and birthday off
