Permanent Medical Veterinary Surgeon - Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire

We are recruiting on behalf of a small practice in Newcastle-under-Lyme for a Permanent Veterinary Surgeon who has a medicine bias to join their team. This role is full time for 40 hours per week over 4 days, along with 1 in 4 Saturdays. There will be no OOH work or on-call duties.

The role

  • The practice is ideally looking for a vet with a bias in medicine to balance out their surgery specialists
  • They can offer a consultations-only role
  • The role offers flexible working pattern and shifts to suit a good work-life balance - EG to work around school pick up. They are in a position to offer full time, part time or flexi time hours that suit
  • The Vet will be working alongside a 3.5 Vet team, some of whom have a surgical bias
  • The role will offer the Vet the opportunity to pursue areas of special interest
  • The Vet will be responsible for providing a high standard of veterinary care and customer service.
  • The Vet will be responsible to ensuring that there is excellent communication between themselves and the team and with clients.

  • Large Veterinary team with various levels of expertise and post graduate qualifications
  • They can offer support for additional post graduate training
  • There is plenty of scope for the Vet to progress
  • The practice where the role is based is fully equipped with facilities including Digital X-ray, Dental x-ray, Ultrasound, fully equipped theatre, digital radiology, laser therapy and an in house laboratory
  • The practice class themselves as a forward thinking practice with an experienced team. They regularly have case discussions and also share ideas on how to improve the practice
  • They understand the importance of mental wellbeing. They hold monthly wellbeing afternoons to do something fun together as a team
  • They offer 2 wellbeing days each year on top of the annual leave allowance

About you

  • For a consulting only Vet they must also be competent in emergency surgical procedures for when they are in a period of sole charge
  • They will be an experienced Vet with an interest in internal medicine
  • The Vet will be a team player, with good interpersonal skills and be able to establish strong working relationships.
  • The Vet will be capable of using their own initiative and use their time and resources effectively
  • The Vet will be looking to progress and expand their clinical knowledge
  • The vet will have excellent communications skills and a compassionate attitude along with excellent client facing skills and ability to build working relationships easily
  • The Vet will always maintain a high standard of clinical care and always willing to go that extra mile for patients

Package

  • Salary: Up to £74,800 per annum, commensurate to experience
  • Holidays: 7 weeks annual leave, increasing with service and birthday off
