Permanent Veterinary Surgeon - MacMerry, East Lothian

  • Are you a qualified and RCVS registered veterinary surgeon?
  • Are you looking for a new part time role in Scotland?

We are recruiting on behalf of a small animal practice in MacMerry, East Lothian for a Permanent Veterinary Surgeon. This role is part time for 2 or 3 days per week, along with 1 in 4 Saturday mornings from 9am to 12pm. There will be no OOH work or on-call duties.

Key details

  • Type: Small animal
  • Hours: Part time, 2 or 3 days per week, shifts from 9am to 6pm
  • Weekends: 1 in 4 Saturday mornings, 9am to 12pm
  • OOH: None
  • Computer system: Merlin
  • Consultations: 15 minutes
  • Team: 3.5 vets, 2 RVNs and 3 SVNs

The role

  • The Vet would be working across their two sites, one of which is a consultations only site.
  • Flexible working and rota patterns available to accommodate a good work / life balance. EG Rota to work around the school run / holidays /lifestyle.
  • The Vet will be responsible for providing a high standard of veterinary care and customer service.
  • The Vet will be responsible to ensuring that there is excellent communication between themselves and the team and with clients.

About them:

  • First opinion practice. Two sites one of which is consultation only. Located close to Edinburgh and the local train station and bus routes.
  • They are fully equipped with facilities including two theatres, Ultrasound, in house laboratory, and digital radiography.
  • They have a team of 3.5 Vets some of whom hold certificates in medicine, feline medicine and cardiology.
  • The role offers a learning environment with plenty of support available for growth and development.
  • They support personal development with a generous CPD allowance and encourage and support certificates and additional training.
  • The practice provides a high standard of care and customer service to all its patients and clients.

About you:

  • The Vet will be looking for a role where they can continue to develop their skills and progress to studying certificates.
  • The Vet will be a team player.
  • The vet will have excellent communications skills and a compassionate attitude along with excellent client facing skills.
  • The Vet will be able to organise their own time well and remain calm under pressure.

Package:

  • Salary: Up to £75,000 pro rata, commensurate to experience
  • Holidays: 6.6 weeks annual leave, increasing with service and birthday off pro rata
  • CPD: Generous allowance of £1,500 with 5 days to attend
