Job description

We are recruiting a Permanent Veterinary Surgeon to join a small animal practice in Liverpool.

The practice is looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon who will contribute and ensure the continual delivery of exceptional clinical care.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • To perform Medicine and Surgery and Emergency care
  • Have excellent people skills and be able to perform consultations with confidence and have the ability to read people and anticipate their needs
  • Build strong working relationships with clients and establish trust
  • Utilise the diagnostics panels available to assess most presentations and be able to evaluate findings and confidently recommend a treatment plan with the client
  • Work closely alongside the Vets, Nurses and non-clinical team.
  • Have an adaptable and flexible approach with helps engage with different members of the team within the practice.
  • Always contribute to the learning culture within the practice
  • Work closely and support the operational management of the clinic by working closely with the whole team and implement the operational model of the practice

About the practice:

This is an established practice with all the latest diagnostic technology and facilities. If you have an orthopaedic bias, then the facilities are well suited to this passion. The practice sees a wide variety of cases including more complex surgeries which enables the development of clinical skills and knowledge.

This is a growing and thriving practice and have a caring team of people who are passionate about the pets that they treat and offer high quality affordable veterinary care to all customers without ever compromising on standards. They are a progressive forward-thinking practice and their value all team members and actively encourage and support career progression and development.

About the role

The position offers an excellent work / life balance by working a 4-day week with a generous 1:4 weekend rota. This equals out at around 37 Hours per week. The practice boasts a professional and friendly team of 2 Vet, 4 Nurses and 1 SVN along with supporting nonclinical staff.

The practice is looking for the following characteristics in a Vet:

The Vet will have a strong understanding of the importance of a diagnostic approach first

The Vet will enjoy establishing and building strong client relationships and will have excellent communication skills particularly within a consultative environment.

They will have a confident and calm approach to their work and within the working environment and will inspire confidence in other and have an enthusiastic and positive attitude.

Key Details:

  • Type: Full time 37 hours per week
  • Hours: 4 Days per week
  • Weekends: 1:4 Rota
  • OOH: None
  • Sole Charge: Occasionally
  • Team: 2 Vet, 4 Nurses and supporting staff

About you:

  • An orthopaedic bias would be advantageous
  • You will be confident in consultations and take a diagnostic first approach.
  • You will be confident in routine surgeries
  • You will be passionate about coaching, teaching and mentoring colleagues to utilise their skills to the maximum
  • You will support and encourage career development within the team
  • You will actively input into the progression of the practice and the company ensuring both remain at the forefront of clinical thinking
  • You will be a passionate dedicated veterinary surgeon committed to delivering a high standard of clinical care.
  • You will be an integral part of the running of the dynamic forward-thinking clinic
  • You will have excellent communication and customer service skills
  • You will have a caring attitude and strive to continually improve your professional knowledge
  • You will have a genuine passion for animal welfare and actively educate owners about their pets

Package:

  • Salary: Commensurate on experience
