Permanent Veterinary Surgeons - Cardiff, Wales

  • Are you a qualified and RCVS registered veterinary surgeon?
  • Are you looking to join an established small animal practice in Cardiff?

We are recruiting on behalf of a small animal practice in Cardiff for a Permanent Veterinary Surgeon to join their team. This role is full time for 4 days per week with shifts between 9am and 7pm. There will be no weekends or OOH work.

  • Team: 3 vets, 3 RVNs, 1 SVN and a supportive non-clinical team

The role

  • Allocated time to read up cases and call clients to deliver updates
  • Some dole charge involved so confidence in consultations and routine surgeries required
  • The role will involve a mixture of consultations and surgeries
  • Due to the sole charge involved in the branch surgeries they are looking for someone who has a good level of surgery experience
  • The vet will be responsible for providing a high standard of veterinary care and customer service
  • They will deliver preventative care as well as treating the sick.
  • The vet will be responsible to ensuring that there is excellent communication between themselves and the team and with clients
  • The practice understand the importance of a good work-life balance and they provide support for development

About them

  • Established first opinion practice
  • 3 branches across the area
  • They offer 15-minute consultations
  • They have a team of 6 vets, 6 nurses and a practice manager who collectively have a wealth of experience
  • All three sites are able to offer a wide variety of modern veterinary services and offer facilities including an in-house laboratory, digital x-ray, K Laser, laparoscopic and endoscopic equipment and dental x-ray. Due to the level of facilities, they have they are able to deal with many cases in house.
  • The strongly believe in allowing Vets clinical freedom.
  • They provide support to one another and are share an ethos of helping and supporting one another by discussing cases.
  • The practice provides a high standard of care and customer service to all its patients and clients.
  • They encourage Vets to establish strong working relationships with clients therefore they strongly believe in case continuity where possible.
  • They can support areas of special interest which they also believe will benefit the services within the practice.

  • They regular meet for informal case discussions to share knowledge.
  • They understand the difficulties that the vet industry can face, and they ensure that each member of staff support each other and strive each day to provide a positive and encouraging work environment

About you

  • You will be able to work sole charge when required and be confident in routine surgeries and consultations
  • You will have a clean UK driving license
  • You will be a team player, with good interpersonal skills and be able to establish strong working relationships
  • You will have excellent communications skills and a compassionate attitude along with excellent client facing skills
  • You will always maintain a high standard of clinical care

Package

  • Salary: Up to £75,000 per annum, commensurate to experience
  • Holidays: 6.6 weeks annual leave, increasing with service and birthday off
