Permanent Night Veterinary Surgeon - Newcastle Upon Tyne, Tyne & Wear

We are recruiting a Permanent Night Veterinary Surgeon to join an independent small animal practice in Newcastle on a full or part time basis. The practice can provide flexibility and are happy to consider different variations of the nights on and nights off rota.

The practice pride themselves on providing an encouraging working environment and are committed to offering a high level of modern veterinary medicine and surgery.

Rota:

  • Week 1: Week of nights, 6pm to 8am (Monday to Friday)
  • Week 2: Off
  • Week 3: Week of days, 8am to 7pm (Monday to Friday)
  • Week 4: Week of days, 8am to 7pm (Monday to Friday)
  • Week 5: Off

On average, over the 5-week shift pattern, this equates to a 35-hour working week.

Who are they looking for:

The role is either full time or part time with the night rota negotiable. The Vet will have excellent client facing skills and be comfortable dealing with emergency situations and confident in their clinical decisions. They will work well both as part of a team but also within a sole charge capacity. They will ideally have a special interest in ECC work and have some prior night work experience however this is not essential, and support can be provided.

There are various packages available depending on the candidate and car, fuel and accommodation can be provided as part of a relocation package. Salary is dependent on experience and is reviewed after 6 months in completion of probationary period.

About them:

A 100-year established group of practices who provide 24hr emergency care to the local area and beyond. Each practice is equipped with a range of modern facilities that include a full range of diagnostic equipment, in house laboratories, hospital facilities and much more. They are fully equipped to deal with a variety of emergency cases.

About you:

You will be a qualified veterinary surgeon with a desire to work with a forward thinking, fast paced veterinary practice. You must have a real passion for the industry and strive to provide the highest standards of care. Excellent customer service skills are also essential. You will have a passion for emergency work and night work - perhaps even looking to study towards an ECC certificate.

The role is open to all qualified veterinary surgeons who are registered with the RCVS, and the practice is open to various levels of experience. For more experienced Vets ideally, you will have a couple of years' experience to be able to hit the ground running. Driving license is essential.

Package:

  • Salary: Starting at £45,000 pro rata, commensurate to experience
  • Holidays: 6 weeks annual leave pro rata

  • Annual salary reviews after initial 6-month successful probationary period review
