Job description

A small animal group of 3 practices in Bishop Auckland County Durham area are recruiting a clinical director to join and lead their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Vet looking to for their next career step in a supportive and caring practice.

This is a large multi vet and nurse team combined over three practices. There is a large team of 17 Vets in total along with a supportive nursing and non-clinical team.

This role is full time with 4 days per week with no ooh and weekends on a rota which is 1:6 full weekends. When working a weekend, you will get 2 days off in Lieu midweek.

The practice is forward thinking and progressive and provide a professional and caring service. The offer a wide range of veterinary services and state of the art diagnostics. They have high clinical standards and enjoy supporting one another and mentor each other where required.

They are looking for a Clinical Director with high clinical standards and someone who has excellent communication skills and can lead from the front. They will have a professional attitude with an approachable manner with excellent attention to detail and time management skills. They will be confident Vet surgeon both medically and surgically. Ongoing training and support is provided from the larger network team.

Key Details:

  • Hours: Full Time
  • Monday to Friday: 4 day working week
  • Weekends: On a rota
  • Sole charge: Some on a weekend
  • Lieu time: 2 Days off midweek when worked a full weekend.
  • OOH: None
  • Team: Multi Vet and RVN team
  • Branch work: Possible
  • Other: Accommodation can be provided if relocating.

This forward-thinking progressive practice has an excellent reputation within the community. It is a well-established group which provides a high standard of clinical care. They offer a wide spectrum of diagnostic procedures across all practices within house testing and boasts excellent state of the art facilities such as in-house hospitalisation wards and kennels.

Person:

The ideal candidate will be confident in all medical cases and surgeries and happy with sole charge work when needed. They will be conscientious with staff, patients, and clients alike and can build excellent working relationships. They will have excellent leadership skills and enjoy providing training and mentoring where provided. They will be responsible for the overall smooth running of all three sites.

They will be enthusiastic and motivated with a genuine passion for animal welfare. Previous experience in a busy practice ideally within a leadership / mentoring role would be an advantage. Most importantly the candidate will be ready to take the next step in their career and take on more responsibility. The Clinical Director will adhere to practice protocols and ensure the daily running of the practice is effective and efficient. They will be a team player and motivate and support other staff members to bring out the best in them. They will have a passionate attitude and have a genuine interest in animal welfare.

The practice is very well equipped with state-of-the-art equipment including digital X-ray, endoscopy, in-house lab, consultation rooms, theatres and wards.

Must haves:

RCVS Registered & Qualified or soon to be.
