Job description

We are working with an independent, family-run small animal practice in Market Harborough who are currently recruiting for a Permanent Veterinary Surgeon to join their team.

This role is full time for 4 days per week from 8:30am to 6:30pm with 1 in 5 OOH shifts and weekends on a rota.

This is a large and established mixed animal independent group of practices offering a wide range of modern veterinary services and facilities. All their branches are fully equipped with the latest diagnostic technology including digital x-ray, ultrasound, and blood machines.

Overall, the practice comprises of a large team of 28 vets along with supportive Veterinary Nurses and non-clinical staff. they regularly have clinical meetings and discuss cases and best practice. they pride themselves on providing a supportive and friendly environment and are committed to delivering a high standard of clinical care.

About the role

The role is full time with a shared OOH rota of 1 in 5. This involves looking after inpatients and there is always an RVN working alongside the on-call vet. It offers a good work-life balance, working 4 days per week but the practice can offer more flexible hours and would consider part time applications.

The practice encourages CPD and hold in house sessions and also fund certificates as they would prefer to deal with as many cases as possible in house and develop the veterinary team rather than refer to other practice. This position offers a veterinary surgeon the opportunity to work in a forward thinking, progressive independent practice with the additional bonus of continuing post graduate qualifications as certificates are funded and supported.

  • Team: 28 vets in the current team across all branches along with a large nursing team and supportive non-clinical staff

The down to earth team of vets are fortunate to be supported by a large group of experienced nurses and dedicate support staff who all have a passion for providing high standards of veterinary care. The practice is fully equipped with an extensive range of diagnostic facilities including digital x ray, ultrasound, and blood machines.

The practice pride themselves on the development of their staff and often hold in house CPD days as well as actively encouraging certificates to be completed for internal expertise.

About you:

The ideal candidate for this role will have at least 1 year of experience behind them since qualifying. You will have a keen interest in both surgeries and consulting and have a real passion for providing a high level of care to all patients. It Is also important you have a compassionate and understand nature as well as the ability to provide a high level of customer service.

Package:

  • Salary: 35,000 to 50,000 per annum, commensurate to experience
