Job description

Our client's in Pontefract are currently recruiting for a small animal veterinary surgeon to join their independent practice on a full time, permanent basis. This position would involve working 4 and a half days each week, with 2 in 7 weekends and no requirements to be on call.

The position would suit a candidate of all qualified experience levels due to the strength of the team at present - they are also open to applications from enthusiastic new graduates or those with multiple years of experience.

Key Details:

  • Type: Small animal only
  • Hours Mon-Fri: Practice open from 8:00am until 6:30pm each day, 2 shifts a week will finish at 6:30/7pm
  • Weekends: 2 in 7 Weekends on a rota, which involves 8:30am-2:30pm on Saturday and any inpatient checks over the weekend
  • Sole charge: Not required, large team of vets
  • OOH: None required as such, inpatient checks only
  • Team: 7 Vets and 7 nurses as well as support staff
  • Branch work: Occasional shift may be required at a local branch

A well-established veterinary practice in Pontefract with a long-standing reputation within the local area. They have a large team of vets and nurses in the practice as well as an established management team.

The practice is well equipped with a variety of equipment including digital x-ray, ultrasound, ECG, Electrocautery, Cryosurgery, dental suite and orthopaedic surgery facilities.

The Person:

You will be a qualified veterinary surgeon with experience working within a UK practice

You will have a great understanding of surgical and medical skills.

You will be self-motivated with a genuine passion for animal welfare

You will have excellent communication skills and be able to develop working relationships with clients and team members

The Package:

  • Salary between 30,000 - 55,000 depending on experience

Must have:

  • RCVS registration
  • The right to work in the United Kingdom
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
