Job description


We are recruiting a Permanent Veterinary Surgeon to join an award winning small animal practice in Colne.

This is a permanent role with flexibility to pick your own hours. The practice boasts 3 branches and the Vet will be required to work across two of the sites. The OOH rota is optional and the practice will accept applications from Vets who do not wish to take part in the ooh service.

About the practice

  • The practice is 1st opinion small animal comprising of three sites.
  • They comprise of a team 67 staff, including 4 directors.
  • This is a first opinion practice, and the role will involve a mixture of both consultations and surgeries. The surgeries are mainly routine.
  • They are fully equipped offering a range of facilities including ECG, flexible endoscope, Ultrasound, In house laboratory and digital x-ray.
  • Main site has recently been refurbished
  • The facilities available allow for excellent case work up and a supportive working environment is provided.
  • The team have regular meetings and are able to contribute to the success of the practice with everyone's voice being heard.

About you

The practice requires a Veterinary Surgeon ideally with good experience however they will consider applications from newly graduated Vets with at least 1 years experience in practice. They must be able to work well as part of a team and have excellent customer service skills.

They must have a caring and approachable attitude and deliver a high standard of clinical care. A vet looking to take their next career step and develop areas of special interest are supported and encouraged.

Key Details:

  • Type: Small Animal
  • Hours: Monday - Friday Full time - 8 Hours days with a mixture of early starts and 5pm finishes and then two later starts with 7pm finishes
  • Weekends: 1.5 in 8 Saturdays 9am - 4pm consultations the on call and then a 1 in 8 On-call full weekend which is Friday / Work Saturday morning only / Sunday on call .
  • Lieu: Monday and Tuesday off in lieu after working the weekend
  • Sole Charge: None only when on call
  • OOH: Yes - during the week start at 1.30pm and then do evening consults 4.30pm -6.30pm then on call and finish after the handover at 8am then get the day off.
  • Branch work: Possibly some for consultations only if short staffed
  • Consultations: 15 Minutes
  • Team: A strong team of 67 between the 3 practices
  • Accommodation: Available in practice flat

About you:

  • You will be competent in delivering routine consultations & Surgeries however support is available for a new graduate
  • You will always deliver a high standard of clinical care
  • You will have excellent customer facing skills
  • You will work well within the team alongside other veterinary specialists and clinicians
  • You will be a passionate and motivated veterinary surgeon with a genuine interest for animal welfare

Package:

  • Salary - 36,000 - 51,000 Commensurate to experience
  • Up to 38 days holiday a year, with a holiday buy back scheme
  • Generous CPD allowance 1,700 per annum and certificates are encouraged with a higher CPD budget given
