We are working with an independent, small animal veterinary practice based in Blackpool, Lancashire, who are recruiting for a veterinary surgeon to join them permanently. This position is available to start from July and the role is due to an increase in demand for their services. You will predominately be based at the main surgery in Blackpool, but occasional at their branch practice in Southport.

The hours are on a rota of 40 hours per week. At the moment due to the Covid 19 situation these hours would be generally split over Monday to Friday with 8 hours each day, no weekend work, but as normal weeks return the rota would include some Saturday mornings with equivalent time off during the week. During the current situation the work is mostly in Blackpool. The salary is dependent on experience and for a recent graduate, it would be in region of 25,500 with 2 days CPD and 600 towards CPD. There is accommodation available at the Blackpool site. There is some sole charge, but always backed up by a senior vet at the other branch.

The practice handles everything from consultations, surgeries, diagnostic work, referrals, nurse consults and work in partnership with an out of hours practice who look after their patients after hours.

The Person:

The ideal candidate for this role will have a keen interest in both surgeries and consulting and have a real passion for providing a high level of care to all patients. It Is also important you have a compassionate and understand nature as well as the ability to provide a high level of customer service. If the candidate was a recent graduate, they would have full support but would be expected to be able to work independently, apart from in surgical situations, within a few months.
