Job description

We are recruiting for a permanent Veterinary Surgeon to join a practice in Basingstoke Hampshire.

This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week with a 1:3 weekend rota.

The Vet would be joining a team of 5 Vets, 10 RVNS and supporting staff. the practice pride themselves on having a low staff turnover and 7 of the RVNS were fully trained in house.

They are a modern practice and offer a wide range of veterinary services and have facilities including Dental X-RAY, Ultrasound and an AO-ASIF Kit including air drill. They offer in house orthopaedic services.

About the role

The practice is looking for an experienced Vet with a minimum of 3 years post qualification experience. They pride themselves on having no hierarchy within the practice, so it is vital that the Vet is a team player.

The Vet would work a 4-day week from 9am - 7pm and 1:3 Saturdays. There are no pre booked appointment on Saturdays, so this is emergency only. The Vet would be working with another Vet on a Saturday so there is no sole charge work involves. There is no ooh. A typical day would involve consultations, in patient checks and administration work. The rota offers 1-day operating day and three consulting days per week. However, if the Vet has some free time and is caught up on their own work in the afternoon then they can assist the operating Vet.

The practice closes at 6pm so the Vet has the remainder of the hour to catch up to be able to leave by 7pm.

  • You will be confident in routine surgeries and consultations
  • You will have an approachable and caring attitude
  • An area of special interest would be advantageous
  • You will be able to establish good working relationships with clients and be confident in all consultations
  • You will want to contribute to the practice with ideas enabling them to stay at the forefront of clinical thinking whilst also maintaining the ethos of providing a high standard of clinical care to all pets.
  • You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to develop a great rapport with both clients and staff.
