Job description

We are recruiting on behalf of a practice in Airdrie, Lanarkshire for a Permanent Veterinary Surgeon to join theirteam of 6 vets, 4 nurses and a supportive non-clinical team who thrive on collaboration and enjoy clinical discussions.

You will have at least 1 year of experience of working in a small animal clinic and ideally a bias in surgery, although this is not required. You must have first opinion diagnostic skills, competence in routine soft tissue surgeries, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to create evidence-based treatment plans. You must also be passionate about keeping up to date with your own professional development. There is very little sole charge involved however the vet would need to be capable of this.

This role is full time with weekends on a rota. This clinic is an established and thriving practice that provides a supportive and friendly environment to work in. They focus on ensuring that everyone has a good work-life balance and invite everyone to present their opinions on how the practice is run.

About you:

  • You will be comfortable with routine surgeries
  • You will have minimum one year experience in a small animal practice
  • You will ideally have a bias towards surgery, although this is not required
  • You will have an approachable, empathetic, and caring attitude
  • You will be passionate about all aspects of your veterinary work
  • You will be happy to share knowledge and mentor others where required
  • You will be able to establish good working relationships with clients and be confident in all consultations
  • You will contribute to the practice with ideas enabling them to stay at the forefront of clinical thinking whilst also maintaining the ethos of providing a high standard of clinical care to all pets.
  • You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to develop a great rapport with both clients and staff.
  • You will be a strong team player
  • Ambition to pursue an area of special interest would be supported
