Job description

We are recruiting for a Permanent OOH Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a practice in Barnsley South Yorkshire. This is a full-time role working on a 7 night on and 7 nights off basis. There are 12-hour shifts.

The OOH RVN would be working with one other highly experienced Vet and one other RVN.

The Nurse would be joining a busy 24-hour hospital comprising of a large team of 15 Vets, 17 RVNS, 3 SVNS and non-clinical support team. Within this team there are an OOH team.

This is an established animal hospital offering state of the art facilities and due to continual growth and expansion they have recently opened a referral centre within the hospital. They are equipped with facilities including CT Scanner, Endoscopy, Orthopaedic experience, and various diagnostic equipment.

The practice is dedicated to providing a high standard of care and have earned four awards for their care.

Key Details:

  • Type: Small Animal
  • Hours: Monday - Friday 7 Nights on 7 Nights off 7.15pm to 7.30am
  • Weekends: Yes
  • OOH: Yes
  • OOH team: One vet and two nurses on duty every night + two receptionists untill 10pm
  • Sole Charge: None
  • Main duties: Inpatient care, triage emergency cases, occasional other nurse consults, answering telephone calls
  • Computer System: RX Works
  • Consultations: 15 - 30 minutes
