Job description

We are working alongside a fantastic independent brand-new small animal hospital based in Chichester for a Permanent Twilight Emergency and Critical Care Nurse to join their OOH team. This position is also available on a part time basis.

The twilight rota comprises of 5 shifts on and 5 shifts off. The working hours would be dependent on the candidate and whether will be in a full time or part time role.

The role will involve triaging first opinion emergencies, assisting the vet with emergency stabilisation and providing continuous care for our inpatients.- Working alongside experienced, friendly and dedicated ECC vets who are excellent team players.-

About the role

Working hours will be spent seeing first opinion emergencies as well as providing continuous care for inpatients. Each shift the RVN will be working alongside the ECC Veterinary Surgeons. The practice sees an average of 6 in patients per night and there is an average of 6 ECC consultations per night - although this can vary. If you are a qualified registered veterinary nurse with a passion for emergency and critical care, please don't hesitate to get in touch!

Team: Working alongside 1 ECC Veterinary Surgeon and part of a 3 RVN OOH team

The Practice:

The thoughtfully converted practice has been designed with the patients' welfare in mind, offering high dependency care facilities with a centralised area for monitoring critical patients. There is a sterile theatre, radiography suite, in-house laboratory, dispensary, and multiple consultation rooms. A cat-only ward has been installed to help reduce stress for feline patients, as well as spacious, air-conditioned kennels tailored to all animal breeds. The practice also has an isolation ward.

The Person:

The ideal candidate will enjoy the challenge and variety offered by twilight work and will be enthusiastic about nursing cases to the highest standard. The joining RVN will be a true team player who will work well with others even in high-pressure situations. A strong interest in ECC work is essential. Customer service skills are also essential as the practice takes pride in the compassion shown to clients and patients.

Applicants must be comfortable with all aspects of general nursing and also be competent in emergency medical and surgical nursing, including challenging anaesthetics.

An ECC qualification or experience desirable but not essential.
