Job description

We are recruiting for a Permanent Veterinary Nurse with an interest in surgery and anaesthetics to join a 24hr animal practice in Liverpool.

This is a full time role working 40 hours per week with a 1 in 8 full weekend rota. There is an average of 1 to 2 weeks on call per year and 1 to 2 bank holidays per year with time back in lieu. The shifts are between the hours of 7am and 9.30pm.

There is a rolling 3 week rota, and within the 3 weeks there is 1 week of early shifts and then 1 week of middle shifts and then 1 week of late shifts.

The Nurse would be joining a large supportive Veterinary team of 7 Vets and 9 Nurses. The surgical/anaesthesia nurse will be responsible for working closely with the Veterinary Surgeons and will monitor anaesthetic in theatre. The role provides exposure to a wide range of interesting cases, some of which are challenging. In addition you will be involved with routine procedures. The Surgical team are responsible for maintaining the surgical equipment to ensure the smooth running of daily surgeries and they will also oversea the patient care assistants and the student nurses providing guidance and coaching. The Nurse will work closely with the head nurse to ensure practice standards and protocols are adhered to and a high standard of veterinary care is maintained at all times.

The practice has recently had a makeover and is bright modern and spacious offering state of the art facilities including endoscopy and CT.

About you

  • You will have a good amount of small animal nursing experience in all aspects of nursing
  • You must have a friendly and compassionate attitude and be approachable
  • You will develop and enjoy running nurse clinics
  • You will be ambitious to continue with further education and training
  • You will have clinical coaching experience or be looking to become a clinical coach
  • You will be forward thinking, motivated, passionate with a genuine interest in animal welfare

Package:

  • Salary: 22,000 to 28,000 per annum, commensurate to experience
