Job description

We are recruiting for a Permanent Senior Veterinary Surgeon to join a small animal practice in Peterlee. This role is full time for 4 days per week, along with 1 in 3 Saturdays. There are no OOH requirements and the vet will receive the same fixed day off mid-week each week.

The practice is established with a large client base, and it provides a modern and spacious environment along with state-of-the-art facilities.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Vet looking to progress and take their next career step. The role offers clinical freedom with the back of up a large supportive team. The practice support areas of special interest and the Vet will have the opportunity to pursue a certificate as well as treating in house referrals.

They have three sites in total across the area and a large 10 Vet team. The position will be based within one of the branches and there is also a supportive nursing team, student nurses and animal nursing assistants. They have a varied case load and perform in house orthopaedics and advance imaging with visiting vets.

Who are they looking for:

The practice is looking for an experienced and confident Vet and someone who is looking for a career step into a more senior role with more responsibility.

The Vet must be able to work up and follow through with cases, be confident in sole charge work and most general surgeries. They must be able to train others, setting a positive example and provide ongoing mentoring and support where required to fellow team members. They must also have great communication skills as they will be required to provide constructive feedback in training situations. They will ensure the smooth day to day running of the practice and maintain the positive work culture.

Facilities:

All branches are equipped with all state-of-the-art facilities and equipment as one would expect including digital x-ray, ultrasound, in house laboratory, endoscopy and separate dog and cat wards.

Package:

  • Salary: Starting at 45,000 per annum, commensurate to experience
