Job description

We are recruiting for a permanent Senior Surgical Nurse to work in an Animal Hospital on the outskirts of Leeds.

This is a full-time role working up to a maximum of 40 hours per week with a 1:4 weekend rota. Whilst this position is full time the practice will accept applications from part time applicants. Job share is also available.

The role is ideal for a nurse with a surgical bias who is looking to take their next career step.

The role involves working alongside an advanced practitioner in surgery and the Nurse would be responsible for maintaining the surgical and theatre standards and ensure the smooth day to day running of surgeries.

They role offers a very varying caseload with orthopaedic cases, neurology cases, soft tissue cases and they will have the opportunity to assist the surgeon with all of these.

This is an established hospital fully equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and the latest technology. They have numerous branch surgeries across the region however this role will be based within the animal hospital.

This role offers a Nurse plenty of scope to continue the development of the clinical skill set and knowledge. All nurses within the group are valued for the essential service they provide to both the Hospital and the branches across the region.

The Nurse will have a bias in Surgery and areas of special interest in emergency and critical care along with anaesthesia would be advantageous. They welcome and support continual learning so there is the opportunity to undertake post graduate certificates.

The Nurse will be required to perform clinical coach duties so whilst this is a requirement of the role training will be provided if this is not something that the nurse is currently doing. However, a passion for clinical coaching or to become a clinical coach is required.

  • You will have a passion for surgery and have a surgical bias
  • Areas of special interest in anaesthesia, emergency and critical care work is an advantage
  • You will be a clinical coach or wishing to train to become a clinical coach
  • You will enjoy working as part of a team

  • You will consistently deliver a high standard of clinical care
  • You will be caring, adaptable, hardworking, and reliable
  • You will have excellent communication and customer interfacing skills
