Job description

A charity Hospital in Gillingham are recruiting a Veterinary Nurse to join their team. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. There is also a generous weekend rota of 1:6

The practice has state-of-the-art facilities and provides veterinary care and education and services to the local community.

The practice is committed to educating the public on animal healthcare and preventative healthcare measures, so it is vitally important that the Nurse team leader shares and promotes this ethos.

The role involves all aspects of nursing from in patient care, to assisting in theatre, carrying out consultations, administrations, and discharges

The Hospital offers career progression opportunities along with exposure to more complex cases leading to clinical and professional development.

They are looking for a motivated and driven Veterinary Nurse who has a genuine passion for animal welfare. They will be ambitious and enjoy mentoring a team and leading from the front. They must have a caring and approachable manner with excellent client facing skills and communication skills. They will be committed to delivering a high standard of clinical care.

Key Details:

  • Vet nurses shifts typically are from 8am - 4.30pm to 9.30am to 6pm
  • 37.5 Hours per week
  • 1:6 Weekend rota
  • No OOH, as this is fully outsourced - Vets Now do night cover on site.
  • The caseload is varied and would make a great opportunity for someone looking to further develop their skills.
  • They have the work / life balance sorted and are flexible on the working hours
  • Clinical staff typically work 1 in 9 full weekends and receive time off in lieu the following week
  • Pets and people at the heart of what they do UK wide

About the Role:

  • The Nurse will be working as part of the team with a variety of duties from supporting the theatre, inpatient care, consults, admission, dispensing medications, maintaining hygiene and encouraging financial contributions.
  • They will support the Head Veterinary Nurse and take on the role as deputy in their absence.
  • They will be involved with rota management
  • They will line manage up to ten nurses and assistants at any one time
  • The hospital building is well equipped with plenty of consulting space allowing them to meet the demands of this busy small practice.
  • The caseload is very varied on a day-to-day basis
  • There is an opportunity to perform schedule three surgeries with training and support
  • They are a friendly welcoming team that are very supportive.
  • They aim to promote a healthy life for all their pets by preventing, educating and treating sick and injured animals with passion and compassion.

Package:

  • Salary 19,505 - 21,673 pro rata

Must haves:

RCVS registered and qualified
