Job description

We are recruiting for a permanent Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a small animal practice in West Sussex. This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week with a 1:5 full weekend rota and a 1:7 Saturday morning rota. The role involves all aspects of general nursing from inpatient care, theatre shifts, preparation shifts and nurse clinics.

There are three branches in total, whilst the role is based at East Grinstead the RVN maybe required to travel to the others two branches on days they are due to assist in theatre. There is no ooh required with this position. The weekend rota of 1:5 involves looking after inpatients however the RVN will have the opportunity to leave the practice and come back in-between. If there are no in patients then they can clean up and go home for the weekend.

The practice has a large team of 7 Vet, 9 RVN, 3 SVN and supporting staff. The practice is an accredited training practice and they do encourage the RVNS to become clinical coaches should they be interested so there is scope within the role to develop and utilise clinical skill set and knowledge.

The practice sees a large amount of varied cases, especially as the team have a variety of special interests, so they see a large amount if orthopaedic cases and use endoscopy and ultrasonography frequently.

The Person:

  • You will have solid general nursing experience
  • You will enjoy working as part of a team
  • You will have a genuine passion for animal welfare
  • An interest in becoming a clinical coach would be advantageous
  • You will consistently deliver a high standard of clinical care
  • You will have excellent communication and customer interfacing skills

RCVS registered and qualified
