Job description

We are recruiting for a permanent registered veterinary nurse to join a well-established practice in Cardiff Wales. This is a new state of the art hospital with modern facilities and equipment. It provides emergency and referral services as well as having 4 branch surgeries within the surrounding area.

This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week over a 5-day period in the Hospital and 1:4 weekends working at the branch surgeries. The Hospital sees a wide variety of cases and has an impressive equipment range able to treat both routine, referral and more complex cases.

The position involves general nursing duties throughout the Hospital varying from
  • Assisting the Veterinary surgeon in surgery
  • Administering medications
  • Nurse consultations
  • In patient care

About the role:

The hospital has a team of both highly qualified nurses as well as trainee nurses and supporting staff, that consistently deliver a high standard of clinical care. They require a passionate, driven enthusiastic nurse who is committed to developing their own knowledge and the practices. All RVNS are expected to have a caring, nurturing attitude with a genuine passion for animal welfare. Excellent communications skills are vital.

  • Branch work: Yes on a weekend on a 1:4 rota

  • Consultations: 15 Minutes

  • Separate waiting rooms and wards for dogs and cats
  • Dedicated clinics for exotics and rabbits

The Person:

  • You must be motivated and passionate about your work and share this and promote this ethos with other members of staff
  • You will actively promote the ethos of preventative healthcare and educate clients each day

The Package:

  • 21,000 - 24,000 pro rata
  • 500 CPD allowance 3 Days

Must have:

  • RCVS registered and qualified
