Job description

We are working with an independent veterinary practice on the outskirts of Reading who are currently recruiting for a Lead Veterinary Nurse to join their team and run one of the branch practices.

This role is full time for 37.5 hours per week between 8:30am and 7pm, along with weekends on a rota. There will be no OOH work or on-call duties.

This position would suit a well experienced RVN candidate who is looking for the next positive step in their career, or a candidate with previous experience running a branch/managing nurses.

Key details:

  • Type: Small animal
  • Hours: Full time, 37.5 hour working week, shifts between 8:30am and 7pm each day
  • Weekends: Saturdays worked on a shared rota with the current team
  • OOH: None
  • Branch work: None
  • Team: 6 vets, 9 nurses and a fully support team

About them:

An independent small animal veterinary practice located close to Reading, Berkshire who are proud of the great standing they have within the area. The practice has a full in house laboratory with a full range of diagnostic equipment, as well as radiograph, ultrasound, ECG and more equipment. They have a wide and varied caseload and encourage the nursing team to be involved in all aspects of the daily running of the practice.

The candidate:

You will be an enthusiastic, efficient and hard-working veterinary nurse who is eager to take a positive step in their career. You will be a qualified veterinary nurse with a strong all-round skill set and a desire to continue learning. Although previous experience running a branch or leading a team would be beneficial, it is not essential. You must hold a full UK driver's license due to the location of the practice.

Package:

  • Salary: 25,000 to 28,000 per annum, commensurate to experience
  • Holidays: 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • CPD: Generous allowance
  • Memberships: RCVS and VDS fees paid
  • Company pension scheme

RCVS registered and qualified or soon to be

Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
