Job description

We are working with an independent veterinary hospital in Bracknell, Berkshire who are currently recruiting for a full time Lead veterinary nurse to join their team on a permanent basis. The position will involve working 40 hours per week over a 4 day week, working 11 hours per day with a 1 hour lunch break. There is a 1 in 6 weekend rota currently, working Saturdays 9:00am until 5:00pm and Sundays 8:00am until 2:00pm.

You will play a key role in bridging the gap between the Head Nurse and RVNs/Students, leading by example with your day to day work ethic and experience. This an opportunity show Lead a medium sized team and unsure the staff are working to their highest possible standards. Previous experience in a similar role would be desired, but not essential, however at least 4 years qualified experience is required.

Key Job Details:

  • Type: Small animal only
  • Hours Mon-Fri: 40 hours per week worked over 4 days, with 1 day off per week
  • Weekends: 1 in 6 on a rota, Saturdays 9:00am until 5:00pm and Sundays 8:00am until 2:00pm.
  • OOH: No on call or inpatient checks
  • Team: 8 Vets, 6 RVNs, Student nurses and other support staff
  • Branch work: The role is at the main hospital site, with very rare branch work required to cover holidays or sickness

About them:

An independent RCVS accredited small animal hospital practice who see a variety of first opinion cases. They are well established within the area and they pride themselves on the high level of care provided to all clients and their pets. The practice has a high standard of equipment that includes a full in house laboratory as well as x-ray, ultrasound and endoscopy.

The practice is a training site for student nurses and they encourage RVN's to take on clinical coach responsibilities where possible.

The candidate:

You will be an enthusiastic, efficient, and hard-working veterinary nurse who is eager to take a positive step in their career. You will be a qualified veterinary nurse with a strong all-round skill set and a desire to continue learning.

You must have at least 4+ years qualified experience working in practice, as well as strong leadership qualities and a desire to progress your career.

It is essential you hold your own driving license due to the location of the practice.

Must haves:

RCVS Registration
