Job description

We are working with a busy small animal veterinary practice in Nottingham, who are part of a small veterinary group and they are currently recruiting for Head Registered veterinary nurse to join them. The role involves working 40 hours per week with a generous 1:4 weekend rota.

This is an established practice with a highly experienced team of skilled Nurses and Veterinary surgeons offering an excellent opportunity for the RVNs to develop their nursing skill set and knowledge.

It offers a full range of services to clients with a mixture of walk in / appointments. The practice is a modern purpose-built building with operating theatres, consulting rooms and state of the art equipment. The offer a wide range of modern clinical services and preventative healthcare advice and education to their clients. They also are fully equipped to deal with more complex medical and surgical cases including orthopaedic services.

About the role

The head Nurse must have previous experience within a leadership role and also experience from working within a busy fast paced practice. They will have ambition and drive and always looking at new ways of working to improve the running of the practice. The practice is a busy large clinic so is ideal for an RVN looking to take on a challenge.

The role involves all aspects of general nursing as well as leading a team. The RVN must be enthusiastic and passionate about animal welfare and committed to delivering a high standard of clinical care. The RVN must be keen to continue developing their knowledge and development by continuing to learn whilst also demonstrating excellent customer facing skills and able to establish good working relationships with both clients and fellow team members.

Key Details:

  • Type: Small Animal
  • Hours: Monday - Friday 40 Hours per week, between 8:00am and 8:00pm each day.
  • Weekends: 1 in 4 Weekends, Saturdays 8:00am until 4:00pm and Sundays 9:00am until 1:00pm
  • Sole charge: None required
  • OOH: None required
  • Team: 1 Vet 4 Nurses, 2 SVNs and support team

  • You will have previous leadership experience
  • You will have experience of working within a busy fast paced environment

  • You will be focused and motivated and always looking at ways in which the running of the practice can omprove and ways to implement this
  • You will have good solid experience in all areas of general nursing
  • You will be enthusiastic and passional about delivering a high standard of clinical care
  • You will be ambitious and keen to continually improve on your professional knowledge and experiences
  • Previous coaching / mentoring experience would be advantageous
  • You will be happy to continually educate owners on pet welfare and preventative care
  • You will be motivated with a genuine passion for animal welfare
  • You will consistently deliver a high standard of clinical care
  • You will have excellent communication and customer interfacing skills

The Package:

  • Salary: 22,000 - 28,000 pro rata
  • Generous CPD allowance 300 and 3 days to complete

Must have:

RCVS registered and qualified
