Job description

We are recruiting on behalf of a practice in Reading for a Permanent Head Veterinary Nurse to join their team.

The position is full time with a generous 1:4 Saturday or Sunday rota. There is no OOH requirement.

The position involves all aspects of general nursing and additionally will include the responsibility for leading the nursing team and driving the practice forward. They will also be involved with administration duties and clinical coaching.

The RVN will be ambitious and motivated with excellent listening skills. They will be focused on putting the patient and clients first and have a compassionate and empathising attitude.

It is important that the RVN is ambitious to continue to develop their own clinical skills and knowledge for the practice to develop their standards.

The RVN will have a good amount of previous experience within small animal practice and have a good understanding how a practice runs effectively. They will share knowledge and help support, coach and mentor others. They will also be proactive in taking an interest in patient welfare and education clients. They will have good leadership skills or demonstrate leadership skills to ensure that the nursing team runs efficiently.

Duties include:

Complete all aspects of nursing duties and assisting Veterinary Surgeons

Clinical coaching duties for SVNs

Liaise with the Senior Vet to ensure that schedule 3 procedures are maximised for all suitable and trained RVNs

Organise rotas and liaise with senior Vet and regional team to ensure all practice needs are met

The RVN will be involved with part of the recruitment process within the practice

Assist the management team with the administration that is needed to complete the smooth day to day running of the practice.

Monitoring stock control and adhere to budget

Reception enquiries when required

Liaise with clients and ensure accurate information is passed on regarding their pets

Co-ordinate training for Nurses and Animal Care assistants - liaise with management team

Ensure opportunities are available for team members to gain experience and provide support and encourage where necessary

Induction training of new staff members

Ensure staff are compliant with Health and Safety Policies.

Package:

  • Salary: Up to 32,000 per annum commensurate to experience
