Professional veterinary recruitment

We are working with a small animal veterinary practice based between Kilmarnock and Ayr who are currently recruiting for a head veterinary nurse to join their team. The role will involve managing a team of nurses across 2 sites, working between both. The position is 40 hours per week, with shifts between 8:00am and 7:00pm each day. Weekends are shared between the team, with the current rota seeing nurses work around 1 in 3 or 4 Saturday mornings. There is no out of hours involved as the practice outsources this.

The role would be suitable for candidates with previous head nurse experience, experience working a senior/manager position or a well rounded RVN he is looking to make the step up and take on management responsibility.

Key Details:

Type: Small animal only

Hours: Around 40 hours per week, shifts between 8:00am and 7:00pm each day

Weekends: 1 in 3 or 4 Saturday mornings only

Branch work: 2 sites in local area, working across both

OOH: None required, outsourced when practice closes

Other: Your own vehicle is essential to travel to both sites

About the practice:

A well-established, traditional but forward-thinking small animal veterinary practice who are well known within the local area. They pride themselves on the level of care provided across their sites and strive to only improve in the future. The practice has an independent feel whilst being owned by a larger group, they have the support and guidance in place to be successful.

The practice is well equipped with full surgical facilities, in house laboratory, radiography and much more. They also provide a referral service to local specialists veterinary centres. As well as all the usual small animal care, they also provide ultrasonography and acupuncture services to all clients.

The Person:

This position would be suitable for a range of candidates:

Experienced Head Veterinary Nurses

Nurses with senior/management experience

RVN's with a strong skill set with a desire to take on a management role

Hungry RVN's who can demonstrate relevant skill set to become a head veterinary nurse

The Package:

Salary from 24,000 to 30,000 per annum - depending on experience, skills set and more

800 annual CPD allowance + 3 days per annum

Must have:

Valid RCVS registration

4 + years qualified veterinary nurse experience
