Job description

We are recruiting for a Permanent Head Veterinary Nurse to join a small animal practice in Hampstead, London. This role is full time for 40 hours per week with 1 in 6 weekends which will be worked at the branch hospital in Hendon.

The practice

This is a friendly and supportive practice and is continuing to grow and now needs an additional RVN to join their team. They offer the opportunity to continue to develop your clinical skill set in a supportive environment whilst also leading a team.

The practice comprises of a team of 3 veterinary surgeons and a nursing team of 4 plus supporting staff. This is an established busy practice that is fully equipped with various facilities such as digital x-ray, Ultrasound, Endoscope and laparoscopic

The practices provide a high standard of clinical care and pride themselves on having staff members who stand apart from the rest and have a real passion and vision for how they work. They provide ongoing training and support to all team members through dedicated training centres. All staff also benefit from the access to the best diagnostic equipment such as MRI machines and CT scanners and state of the art operating theatres in the nearest animal hospital.

About the role

The role involves all aspects of general nursing including the day to day running of the practice. The role both offers the continued development and utilisation of the RVNS clinical skill set but also provides more responsibility in leading a nursing team and providing them with support and clinical coaching. The RVN will be responsible for assisting in the training of the patient care assistants.

The role also involves running nurse clinics and the RVN will be expected to promote new ideas with the full support of the nursing team.

Support is provided from head office in terms of recruitment and staff rotas and marketing etc. but there is some administration work involved with the role.

Who are they looking for

The role would suit an experienced RVN who has excellent leadership skills. They must be forward thinking and organised with a motivated, professional, and ambitious attitude. They will involve clinical coaching or aspire to become a clinical coach and they will help provide support and guidance to the rest of the team including SVNs.

Previous head or deputy experience is required along with the ability to work well under pressure. They must be passionate about animal welfare, be computer literate and have a great eye for detail. Excellent customer care and communication skills are essential.

About you

  • You must have a friendly and compassionate attitude and be always approachable

  • Previous leadership experience is advantageous but not essential
  • You will have clinical coaching experience or be looking to become a clinical coach
  • You will be forward thinking, motivated, passionate with a genuine interest in animal welfare
  • You must be motivated and passionate about your work and share this and promote this ethos with other members of staff
  • You will enjoy working as part of a team
  • You will have a genuine passion for animal welfare

Package:

  • Salary: Up to 32,615 per annum, commensurate to experience
