Job description

We are recruiting for a Permanent Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a small animal practice in Dalston London. The role is full time working 40 Hours per week with a 1:4 weekend rota.

The practice has state of the art diagnostic equipment including an in-house laboratory, ethylene oxide sterilisation and digital x-ray. They comprise of a team of 1.5 Vet both of which are clinical coaches and 2 SVNs.

The practice provides a high standard of clinical care and pride themselves on having staff members who stand apart from the rest and have a real passion and vision for how they work. They provide ongoing training and support to all team members through dedicated training centres. All staff also benefit from the access to the best diagnostic equipment such as MRI machines and state of the art operating theatres.

About the role

The practice requires a Head Veterinary nurse to lead the nursing team. The role involves all aspects of general nursing duties as well be being a support and mentor to SVNs within the practice. The RVN will also be responsible for managing the administration side of the practice. The role involves working 40 hours per week with a 1:4 weekend rota and there will be a bank holiday rota and on call.

Who are they looking for?

The practice are looking for a confident RVN who has strong leadership skills. Therefore, previous experience in a leadership role would be an advantage. Previous clinical coaching experience would also be an advantage.

The RVN will have excellent customer service and communication skills and have a friendly and empathetic attitude. They must be computer literate with attention to detail. They must be able to work under pressure and be able to lead and support a team. Understanding PCA and SVN duties is also important. The practice offers a friendly and supportive place to work in and there is continual support ongoing for professional development.

About you

  • You will have a high level of solid nursing experience in all aspects of nursing
  • Clinical coaching experience would be advantageous but not essential.
  • You must have a friendly and compassionate attitude and be approachable at all times
  • You will have strong leadership skills
  • You will be ambitious to continue with further education and training
  • You will be forward thinking and always looking at ways to develop the clinical nursing team further
  • You will enjoy leading a team and providing ongoing support to fellow team members
