Job description

We are looking for a Permanent Head Veterinary Nurse to join a practice in Colchester.

You must have previous experience gained in a small animal clinic. You must be capable of performing general nursing duties and working independently. The nurse will be responsible for supporting the PCAs and CCAs within the team. The Head Nurse will be involved in all aspects of nursing and leading the team of nurses and helping them in the development of their skills in order to provide the highest standard of care to the practice's loyal clients. The role is ideal for an RVN who thrives on providing a high level of veterinary care and teaching student nurses.

The role involves working full time for 40 hours over 5 days, along with 1 in 4 weekends.

About you:

  • You will be a Qualified Veterinary Nurse who is registered with the RCVS
  • You will have previous experience of working in a small animal practice
  • You will have a good amount of nursing experience in all aspects of nursing
  • You will have good organisational skills
  • You must have a friendly and compassionate attitude and be always approachable
  • You will be ambitious to continue with further education and training
  • You will be forward thinking and always looking at ways to develop the clinical nursing team further
  • You will enjoy running nurse clinics
  • You will have experience in clinical coaching and or happy to become a clinical coach
  • You will enjoy leading a team and providing ongoing support to fellow team members
  • You must be motivated and passionate about your work and share this and promote this ethos with other members of staff
  • You will enjoy mentoring others and leading by example
  • You will enjoy working as part of a team
  • You will have a genuine passion for animal welfare
  • You will consistently deliver a high standard of clinical care

Package:

  • Salary: Up to 30,000 per annum dependant on experience
