Permanent Full time Veterinary Surgeon Bolton (VETSEEK-3204)

Bolton, Lancashire

Veterinary Surgeon

Starting from £35,000

Full time / Permanent

Job description

We are working with an independent small animal practice in Bolton who are currently recruiting for a small animal veterinary surgeon to join them on a full time, permanent basis.

This is an independent small animal practice who pride themselves on providing a supportive, friendly, and happy environment to work in. They fully appreciate the importance of a good work / life balance along with creating a workplace that you look forward to working in each day.

The role is full time working Monday - Friday with a generous 1:4 Saturday morning rota.

The Vet would be joining a team of 3 additional Vets along with 4 RVNS and 1 SVN. They have two branches which are only 4 miles apart and the role is evenly split amongst the Vets between the main and branch surgeries.

A day will comprise of either a consulting day 9am - 12.30 then lunch / admin and then consultations again from 4pm - 6pm. Vets tend to be out the door by 6.30pm. A surgery day begins with arriving at 8.45 am and operations begin at 9.30am until finish and then the Vet will have afternoon consultations from 4pm - 6.15pm.

There is a rota providing cover for any emergency cases each day. Should there be a walk-in case in the afternoon that needs to be treated then the assigned Vet will deal with the case for as long as it is needed - even if this is after the end of the working day. This allows again for an excellent work / life balance with Vets being able to make definitive evening plans. There is no on call required.

The practice sees a varied case load and are looking to expand their rabbit services and exotics so if the Vet has a bias in either of these two areas then there is scope to develop this side of the business further.

Who are they looking for

They are looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon who is confident in routine surgeries and consultations and someone who does not require continual support. There is sole charge work involved on a Saturday, so it is important that the Vet is experienced enough to be comfortable working sole charge.

Areas of special interest and training towards a certificate are most welcome and supported and encouraged.

The practice encourages CPD as they would prefer to deal with as many cases as possible in house and develop the veterinary team rather than refer to other practice. This position offers a Veterinary Surgeon the opportunity to work in a forward thinking, progressive independent practice with the additional bonus of continuing post graduate qualifications as certificates are funded and supported.

They have an apartment onsite over the main practice which can be made available at a discounted rate for a Vet who perhaps will be relocating.
