Job description

A large animal practice located in York are looking to recruit either a recent graduate farm animal Veterinary Surgeon or a farm Vet with some experience to join their growing team on a permanent basis.

The practice is a seasonal beef and sheep practice which have a growing camelid and goat client base. The role offers a varied case load with a high obstetrical and surgical case load. TB and Export work is shared across the team. They also offer advanced fertility services - bull and ram semen testing, cattle and sheep ET and laparoscopic AI for sheep.

The role offers clinical freedom and support is always available for Vets to develop their skills and areas of special interest. The team regularly have case discussions and have collaborative work approaches.

The Vet would be joining a team of 5 all of whom are progressive forward-thinking Vets who offer plenty of friendly support. They all have a wide range of interests and specialists, and all have regular social get togethers outside of work (Covid pending).

The rota is average a 1:4 depending on the season with days off in lieu for weekend worked and bank holidays worked. Bank Holidays are shared across the team.

They have a lovely client base and are looking for someone who can build client relationships easily.

The practice is located close to the stunning City of York with the Yorkshire Dales, Moors, and coast within an easy reach. It offers a great opportunity for both City and Country life living.

  • Weekends: Yes on a shared rota

  • Lieu: Yes, time off in Lieu when worked a weekend on call

  • Team: 6 Large Animal vets supported by 2 administrative assistants.

About You:

**Practice can support new graduates or experienced Vet **

  • You must have a strong work ethic and provide an excellent high standard of clinical service
  • You will need to be confident in sole charge work - support provided for new graduates
  • You must be competent in all areas of large / farm animal work - for experienced Vet
  • Experience in TB Testing experience is advantageous
  • You will be a forward-thinking vet, compassionate and enthusiasm with a positive attitude.
  • You would be qualified in fertility, cattle health and production, foot care and mobility, youngstock and farm management

Package:

  • Salary: 36,000 - 45,000 Commensurate to experience
