Job description

A large animal practice located in Horsham are looking to recruit an experienced large farm animal veterinary surgeon on a permanent basis to join their growing team. This role would ideally suit an experienced veterinary surgeon perhaps looking to relocate and have a new challenge.

They are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Vet to work within the branches head office on the outskirts of Horsham.

The role will involve commercial dairy, beef, small ruminant, camelid and small holders, open and pet farms. The Vet will work a mixture of routine fertility work, health planning, sick animals, and some TB testing. The role would be ideal for a Vet who is interested in teaching and education and the practice have farm rotation students from the University in Surrey.

There will also be 1 in 4 weekends depending on the season with a day off in lieu per weekend worked and a half day once a week. There is TB tester employed which helps minimise the TB workload for the vets.

  • OOH: 1 in 5 during lambing and calving season as the vets double up

About you:

  • You must have a strong work ethic and provide an excellent high standard of clinical service
  • You will need to be confident in sole charge work
  • You must be competent in all areas of large and farm animal work
  • Experience in TB Testing experience is advantageous
  • You will be a forward-thinking vet, compassionate and enthusiasm with a positive attitude.
  • You would be qualified in fertility, cattle health and production, foot care and mobility, young stock and farm management

Package:

  • Salary: 35,000 to 55,000 per annum, commensurate to experience
