Job description

We are recruiting a small animal locum veterinary surgeon to join our independent clients on the outskirts of Inverurie in Aberdeenshire from January ongoing. The role would be providing cover until May time to help cover over a busy period. The role is very flexible and the practice are happy to provide either full time 4.5 days per week however if the locum would prefer to do less then this is also possible. The practice work on a 1:5 weeknight and weekend rota so it would be a bonus for the locum to work some OOH and the weekend rota but again not essential to the role.

Working day starts at 8am - 5pm and then the OOH is a late finish at 6.30pm.

This role would be suitable for a veterinary surgeon with a couple of years post graduate experience in practice so that they are comfortable with routine surgeries and consultations.

The practice have two sites and the role may involve working between the two, however this is also flexible. The are able to provide onsite accommodation and it is not essential for them to own their own vehicle.

Key Details:

  • Type: Small Animal
  • Hours Mon-Fri: 8:00am until 5:00pm each day 4.5 days per week 1/2 day is a 12.30pm finish
  • Weekends: 1:5 weekend rota
  • OOH: 1 night on call each week
  • Branch work: Flexible - would be helpful to work between branches, practice vehicle provided - but not essential
  • Sole charge: Possibly on weekends and when on call. Important that the Vet is comfortable in surgery by themselves.
  • Accommodation provided on site.

About them:

An independent mixed animal practice who provide companion, farm and equine animal service all around the local area. They operate over 2 branches who are both open 6 days a week and provide a 24 hour on call service. They currently employ 11 veterinary surgeons and a large team of qualified and student nurses to support, as well as other support and admin staff. The practice's are fully equipped with the latest gear, including ultrasonography, endoscopy, in house blood analysis and Lab, orthopaedics and much more.

Must haves:

RCVS Registered & Qualified or soon to be.

Possess the right to work in the United Kingdom.

Have excellent verbal / written communication skills
