Job description

We are recruiting for a small animal practice in Watford who require a Locum Veterinary Nurse to provide maternity cover for 12 months. There is potential for this opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate. This role is full or part time for 25 to 37 hours per week, along with 1 in 2 weekends.

The practice is looking for an enthusiastic and passionate nurse and someone who has excellent client care skills. The Nurse will be involved in all aspects of general nursing and will be exposed to a variety of cases. They will be working alongside a team of 1 vet, 1 SVN and 1 VCA.

The nurse will have good all round nursing skills and a good level of experience. they will be committed to providing a high standard of patient care and be able to work well as part of a team. They will pro active and confident in their nursing capabilities.

About the role

The roles involve all aspects of general nursing, including:

  • Assisting in the day to day running of the practice
  • Admissions and discharges
  • Working alongside the non-clinical and clinical team to ensure the smooth delivery of patient and client care
  • Be responsible and take ownership of tasks
  • Monitoring operations and assisting the vet in surgery
  • Administering medications and taking records accurately
  • In patient care
  • Nurse clinics
  • Measuring blood pressure, sampling, and pharmacy work

  • Type: Small animal
  • Hours: Full or part time, 25 to 37 hours per week
  • Weekends: 1 in 2 weekends

  • Computer system: RX Works
  • Consultations: 15 minutes
  • Team: 1 vet, 1 SVN, 1 VCA and support team
